African American Association (AAA)

Constitution
Article I - Name
The name of the organization shall be the University of South Carolina Union African American Association hereafter referred to as the "AAA".
Article II - Purpose
The purpose of AAA shall be to provide a supportive network for the successful advancement of African Americans and all minorities in Higher Education.
Article III - Objectives
The objectives of AAA will be to sponsor activities to encourage progression through college, to provide mentoring to high school African Americans and all minorities in Union County to pursue a Baccalaureate Degree, to promote a healthy contribution of cultural, social and community service projects for the benefit of African Americans and all minorities at USC Union, and the greater Union Community.
Article IV - Membership
Membership in AAA shall be extended to any student, faculty, or staff expressing a desire to adhere to the purpose and objectives of the organization. Membership shall not be limited to persons based on their race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or veteran status.
Article V - Meetings
AAA shall meet at times convenient to the majority of the members. AAA shall meet as often as necessary to fulfill its purpose.
Article VI - Budget
The Budget for AAA may supported by Student Activity funds as allocated by the SGA and by membership dues of $5.00 per semester or $10.00 per year.
Article VII – Amendments
The members of the Minority Student Union (MSU) moved and unanimously voted to amend the Constitution by changing MSU’s name to the African American Association (AAA) as detailed in the March 16, 2005 Minutes of the Organization.
