A general faculty meeting preceded the faculty senate meeting on Wed, Sep 7. President Sorensen opened the general faculty meeting with a report on the University’s efforts to provide relief to victims of hurricane Katrina. Descriptions of those efforts, FAQs, How to volunteer, How to donate, etc. can be found on the University web site, www.sc.edu/Katrina
President Sorensen also announced there are 108 new faculty this year and there is a strategic initiative to hire at least 100 new faculty each year for the next several years.
Provost Becker introduced five new Deans and had each school/college introduce their new faculty members. Dr Plyler introduced Dr Rowland and named our new faculty along with new faculty at the other regionals.

Fall Enrollment: We have a 19.7% decrease in student headcount and a 5.96% decrease in F.T.E. The primary reason for the decrease is because we do not have concurrent courses at Laurens District 55 High School and Clinton High School this semester.Attachment 3: Bobby Holcombe
